Top Ten Tuesday {6}

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where we post our top tens of anything bookish. This week's topic is Top Ten Things that Make Your Life as a Reader/Book Blogger Easier. I've been book blogging for almost a year now and if not for these things, I'd probably be dead by now.

Oh, dear Goodreads. Where would I be without you? Lost and never to be found, that's where. But really, "When in doubt, go to Goodreads" is my unofficial motto. I check the site everyday and keep my shelves as updated as possible.

If you need to reach me ASAP, tweet me. Seriously. I'm on there always and it's the first and last thing I check everyday. And who can blame me? Almost all the relevant bookish peeps are there: bloggers, authors, and publishers.

I use the Android app and not the web version because I draft my reviews longhand, but this is a real lifesaver. It's where I store snippets of what I think about the book that I'm currently reading, and also various lists. I make lists obsessively because it's either that or constantly forgetting everything.

Last year, I sold my iPod touch and bought this cheap-ass phone (What did I buy with what I had left? Oh, right, books, of course.) but it serves all my needs so deep down, I really love it. I read ebooks on it with the Kindle and Aldiko apps—my mind got blown when I found out that I can even read those tricky .acsm files on it!

5. My laptop
What I'm using right now is a hand-me-down that I got just two weeks ago so all I know is that it's a Toshiba laptop. Fingers crossed that it'll last long. Anyway, yeah, I wouldn't be blogging without a laptop, so it definitely deserves a spot in this list.

6. Google
I think I just insulted everyone with that hyperlink to the site :)) Anyway, Google is where I go to when I can't find something on Goodreads, particularly HD book covers.

If you look at my archive, you'll see that I sign up for blog tours like crazy, and this is how I keep up with all the dates. I also use Calendar for NetGalley archive dates, cover reveals, etc.

8. My class schedule
My college is more lenient than others here in my country when it comes to class scheduling (it's one of the few things I love about it) and as you can see, I have it very easy this term. Lots of reading and blogging time but it's just never enough!

9. Tumblr
Tumblr is where I go when I need to refill my creative juices by staring at pretty pictures of books all day. I've also discovered a lot of books from quotes that other people have shared over there.

10. Tinypic
I used to use Photobucket until I had enough of photos not appearing on my blog and made the switch to Tinypic. No regrets.

  1. So true about those. I don't know how I've lived without goodreads. I've never heard of Tiny Pic and I have yet to use Tumblr but I hear people love it so I may have to check that out sometime. Thank you for sharing those and I hope you have a great rest of your week!

  2. Tumblr is something I have not used....yet. But I may have to bite the bullet and get one soon, as they do seem like fun. And then I can follow some.

  4. Ahhh, yes goodreads is essential to the life of a reader. If I were to answer this, I'd probably add my thesaurus in. I'm never without it when I write reviews or blog posts. I'm always short when it comes to words so it's really helpful. :-)

  5. Google definitely deserves a spot. Without it I would never find Goodreads in the first place so well done Google, you did it.

  6. I wonder if I'm going to come across a list that doesn't have Goodreads on it. Really, though, what would we readers/bloggers do without it?
