In case you don't know, #KMRinPH is the official hashtag for Katie Cotugno, Melissa Kantor, and Robyn Schneider's visit here in the Philippines, and yes, I did have an awesome time meeting them just this morning!
The three lovely authors were all so fun to listen to (that was practically all I did because I was only half-awake the entire time -_-) as they answered every question we bloggers threw at them. I learned so much about their writing processes which is very interesting as I'm currently working my way through their books. Anyway, my question for them was:
What is your favorite part of writing contemporary novels?
For Melissa, it's the romance. She loves writing kissing scenes (and we love reading them, so it's win-win, really), and also that certain scene where the characters first catch each other in the same room. Swoon.
For Katie, she loves how writing contemporary lets her learn about real life, like she's living through her characters, experiencing things that she herself would probably never go through.
And for Robyn, she loves being able to include pop culture references in her books. God knows you can't just mention Harry Potter or Doctor Who in a high fantasy novel just because you feel like it.
Me with the trio! I was my usual non-chatty-when-starstruck self which I now regret as always because they were all so nice! Also, look at Katie's hair. #HairPeg
Bookish events are always even more fun when surrounded by bookish people.
Aaaaand my signed books! I finished reading How to Love the other day and I'm working my way through The Beginning of Everything right now.
But of course, I have a treat for you guys if you missed the signing event. I'm giving away this signed paperback of The Beginning of Everything to one lucky Philippine resident! Good luck!
You asked a great question, Kazhy! The signing was just so much fun, wasn't it? I already can't wait for the next event! Great recap. :D
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to meet the three of them. I love them so much, especially Robyn! She is cute! And also all of you there in the photo (the Filipino book blogger/lover) are seriously a squad goal!
ReplyDeleteGreat recap, as usual! You guys are so lucky to have met those good authors. I hope I could attend a book signing event someday. :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing recap! :) How I wish I get to meet them. :( But I lack money that's why I'm not able to go to the event. I do hope I win this signed copy of 'TBoE.' Btw, how to join the private signing? I'd love to know how. Please. :)
