Feature and Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. This week's featured blogs are Book Cupid and Bookworm in Love.
This week's question is:
Have you ever read a book that you thought you would hate? Did you end up hating it? Did you end up loving it? Or would you never do that?
My answer:
Hmm, I don't think I ever have. I read what piques my interest, so of course I don't think I'd hate them.
In most cases, I try not to expect anything from a book because then it could not meet those expectations and who would end up disappointed? Me. That's exactly what happened when I read City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. I thought it was so otherworldly awesome because of all the love it's getting, but... It wasn't bad; it just didn't end up being as good as I thought it would be.
For new and old followers, I'd really appreciate it if you'll follow me via Bloglovin. You can see my post about this here. Thanks! I'll follow back, of course :D

Although difficult, it's best not to expect anything. You are right.
ReplyDeleteFollowing you on bloglovin Here is my FF
Yeah it is best not to expect anything, although it is hard if the book has been recommended to you, or it very hype-worthy.

Similiar here with Cassandra Clare, though my issue is the cyberbullying and plagiarism "scandals" now, and not the more or less mediocre books she wrote. Not that they were bad, they just weren't.. as excellent as I'd hoped. :)

Yay, I thought I was the only one who thought that about the City of Bones. It was good, but it wasn't as good as all the hype was saying.

I enjoyed Immortal Series, but after the third one I felt like the series should have ended then. After the 4th I just lost interest. It was a new story and to me should have been another series.
ReplyDeleteThanks for following!
Following back now!

I agree, I try to not start a book with too high expectations, but sometimes, especially if the book is a part of a series I love, that's really difficult!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my FF post earlier. I'm following you back via bloglovin'.
Hey, I'm a new GFC follower! My blog is http://wsheam.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteI agree too, except if it's a book to a series I've been waiting to read for along time I sometimes get my hopes way too high then get slightly disappointed, but there has been one book I thought I would hate but I read it anyway, and It turned out I like it. :)
Hi! This is the 2nd time Silk Screen Views is joining the blog hop. Following you by Twitter.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually not a huge fan of a lot of books people love. One of them is the Sookie Stackhouse series. It's just not my thing. The writing... ugh. Don't get me started! Ha!

Hi!
ReplyDeleteJana @ A Novel Reality
I love City of Bones, and up until the fourth book. I hated the fourth book. It's actually what I talked about today.

ReplyDeleteYou know, what about in school though, when you're forced to read books that might not seem appealing? Any hidden gems from then?

Oh, we only got assigned poems, short stories, or excerpts, and not whole books so that wasn't a problem XD
