Title: The Promise of Amazing
Author: Robin Constantine
Release Date: December 31st 2013
Publisher: Balzer + Bray
Age Group: Young Adult
Wren Caswell is average. Ranked in the middle of her class at Sacred Heart, she’s not popular, but not a social misfit. Wren is the quiet, “good” girl who's always done what she's supposed to—only now in her junior year, this passive strategy is backfiring. She wants to change, but doesn’t know how.
Grayson Barrett was the king of St. Gabe’s. Star of the lacrosse team, top of his class, on a fast track to a brilliant future—until he was expelled for being a “term paper pimp.” Now Gray is in a downward spiral and needs to change, but doesn’t know how.
One fateful night their paths cross when Wren, working at her family’s Arthurian-themed catering hall, performs the Heimlich on Gray as he chokes on a cocktail weenie, saving his life literally and figuratively. What follows is the complicated, awkward, hilarious, and tender tale of two teens shedding their pasts, figuring out who they are—and falling in love. The Promise of Amazing sounds positively cute, doesn't it? That's the only reason why I still plan to give this a chance despite the numerous negative reviews I've read. I sure hope I'll be part of the minority on this one.
Title: Stone of Destiny (The Danaan Trilogy #2)
Author: Laura Howard
Release Date: December 31st 2013
Publisher: Self-published
Age Group: New Adult
Allison thought it was crazy enough when she found out her father, Liam, wasn't entirely human. But now she has to join his magical allies to unravel his former mistress's plans. Aoife wants to keep Allison's parents apart forever.
Despite Allison's efforts to keep Ethan, the only guy she's ever cared about, out of this supernatural mess, fate keeps throwing him back into the mix.
Will Allison be able to find the amulet that holds the enchantment Aoife placed on Liam and destroy it? Are Ethan' s feelings for Allison strong enough to endure the magic of the Tuatha De Danaan? From the blurb alone, I can tell that Stone of Destiny will have more action than the first book, which would be awesome because that's one of the few aspects where The Forgotten Ones didn't satisfy much.
Promise of Amazing sounds like a unique beginning to a teen romance. Enjoy! Here's MY WOW POST
